I never really got this exercise. I never feel it in my abs, just my
shoulders. I usually do around a minute and a half and have to take a break
so my shoulders will stop burning, but its never because of my abs.

not doing it for long enough / form sucks. Make sure your but isnt high in
the air, or you will feel it in your shoulders.

Try doing 20 second planks with a 10 second pause. Do that 8 times (=4min).
Make sure that during those 20 sec the tension in your body is as high as
possible. If you can’t do 4 min in your first try, do 2 or 3 min first but
don’t try to save up energy for the last rounds.

Forgot to mention THE MOST important cue in this exercise, your shoulder
blades should be protracted, it’s so cringy watching people new to working
out doing this work just because people like you make such stupid videos…

Wrong! The distance between your elbows and the distance between your fist
should be the same.
